Remember Collective – Sponsorship Goal £617.00 – Fully Funded!
The Remember community group is made up of 12 working mothers, all aged between 33 and 59 years old. Some of them still have small children, while others have children who have long since over-taken them in height.
They live in a community about 12 km away from the capital Lomé and have small businesses selling food products like porridge, cakes and fish. Some sell charcoal and others sell cosmetics. They would all like to use their loans to buy more products to attract more customers to their stalls, in the hope that it will grow their business and they will start to see a profit.
36 year old Amivi is the President of the Remember collective, and mother of two children under 10 years old. She works more than 60 hours per week selling food produce and the loan will give her the power to increase her stock levels and her profit. She wants nothing more than to improve her family’s life and make sure her children have an education.
The lack of financial resources previously available to them, has made it hard for the beneficiaries to invest in and strengthen their businesses.
The Remember group heard other women talking about IADES and the services they offer. They were interested in the specialist training they would receive in managing a business and the workshops addressing social issues. They liked that IADES allows more time to make loan repayments and gives its members support and advice throughout their loan cycle.
When the group first came together, they were very shy around each other – it didn’t last long. They’ve become close since they joined the Remember group in July 2020 and constantly keep each other motivated. They continue to support each other during difficult times by offering advice and encouragement to each other.
They have already begun their business management training and have learnt about customer care and how to promote their products. They are looking forward to learning how to look for new sources of income, gain new skills and how to manage profit and savings.
They are feeling happy that they have found each other.
