Bringing safe water to vulnerable communities

Safe Water

Water is a human right. Together we can help provide vulnerable communities with access to safe water and break free from the cycle of poverty.

Many rural families in Togo rely on unsafe water sources. Often, water is either consumed untreated, leading to illness and disease, or purified over open fires which contributes to high carbon emissions and deforestation

The collection of water and fuel is also a chore that disproportionately affects women and young children, reducing their time to generate income and attend education. Every water project is designed with the community at its heart. By working locally and sustainably, we create solutions that last - giving families the resources they need to thrive independently.

Lack of safe water is more than just a case of survival, but of gender equality and environmental care. But together we can make a difference.

Making a difference.

At Deki, we work with local partners to ensure communities have access to safe, and sustainable water sources. Our approach is simple yet impactful: we rehabilitate boreholes to restore access to safe drinking water, reducing reliance on unsafe or unsustainable alternatives.

With only 17% of households in Togo having access to handwashing facilities with soap and water, we also provide vital water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) training to empower communities to reduce the spread of fatal disease.

In 2024, we successfully rehabilitated 50 boreholes and created 50 new mother clubs. Now, 3750 women are trained in WASH, improving health and sanitation in 250 communities.
